How My Fine-Art Print Ketubahs Are Made: A Behind-the-Scenes Look

There’s something special about seeing your ketubah come to life — even more so when you know what goes into it. While painted and custom ketubahs each have their own unique process (more on those soon!), today I’m taking you behind the scenes of how my fine-art print ketubahs are created, step by step.

1. It all begins with a brushstroke

Each fine-art print design starts as an original painting created in my studio using watercolours and gouache. These artworks are painted by hand, bringing warmth, texture, and depth to every design. You can view all of my collection designs here.

2. Scanned and digitized with care

Once the artwork is complete, it’s professionally photographed or scanned to preserve every detail and nuance of the original. This high-resolution file becomes the foundation for your ketubah. Please note: custom ketubahs are not scanned/added to the collection.

3. Your custom text is added

When you place your order, you’ll choose your ketubah text (or provide your own), along with personal details like names, wedding date, and location. I carefully typeset this text to complement the design, ensuring everything flows beautifully. You can view texts here.

4. You review your personalized mockup

Before printing, I’ll send you a digital proof of your ketubah. This is your chance to review all the details — names, spellings, date formats, and layout — and approve it before it goes to print.

5. Printed on museum-quality paper

Each ketubah is printed in my studio using a fine-art giclée printer on luxurious 310gsm cotton paper. The archival inks ensure vivid, long-lasting color, preserving the artwork for generations.

6. Hand-finished with metallic leaf

Many print designs are accented with hand-applied metallic leaf — usually gold, silver, or rose-gold — added carefully after printing for a dimensional, luminous finish. It’s a subtle but striking detail that brings the piece to life.

7. Packaged with care and shipped worldwide

Your ketubah is gently rolled and packed in a sturdy tube for safe shipping, and shipped for free via DHL Express, with plenty of time before your wedding.
